A safe harbor for German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois

Saving Paws Rescue Arizona is an all-volunteer, 501 (c)(3) charitable organization in Phoenix, Arizona. We are dedicated to providing veterinary care, evaluation and adoptive homes for German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and others who were left in pounds to await uncertain fate, owner surrenders (due to divorce, death, etc.) or from abusive or negligent situations. We help provide a safe harbor for German Shepherds and other breeds that might otherwise be destroyed.

As an all volunteer organization with no paid staff, we rely entirely on your donations to continue our life-saving mission. We are funded entirely by private donations and receive no government support. Most dogs for adoption are housed in foster home situations.

Featured Dogs!

Khaleesi is a beautiful girl that was turned into the Apache Junction shelter as a stray. The shelter contacted us when staff members realized she was likely vision impaired. Because of her vision impairment she is blind in one eye, but the other eye is fine. She does tend to react to people and dogs that approach her kennel. Once she has your trust she is affectionate and wants to play! Learn more about Khalessi on our Available Dogs page.

Nettie is an incredibly easy dog if you’re looking for a lower-energy, easy-going, but affectionate companion. She is so sweet and just wants to be with her people. She absolutely loves affection and will cuddle with you, but also lays down nicely in her dog bed for naps. Nettie walks well on a leash, but does react a bit to other dogs, although we think that could be easily corrected with training. To learn more about Nettie, visit our Available Dogs page.

Have you met our sweet senior, Ghost? He is a gentle soul, an absolute lover boy and a hoot! Just when you think you’re done petting him and loving on him, he comes back for more. Ghost loves walks and short hikes with our long-time fosters John and Deb. He gets along well with other dogs in the home too, although he does tend to react on a leash to other dogs when walking. To learn more about Ghost, visit our Available Dogs page.

You can help make a difference!

Our mission will always be to help rescue a homeless or suffering German Shepherd or other dog out of a dire situation. We rely on donations and fundraisers to enable us to help needy dogs. It is the generous individual and group donations that empower Saving Paws Rescue Arizona to be able to help. We thank you for your support!

Love For Life Program

In March 2016, we started a program called "Love For Life." Dogs are placed in loving foster homes until their rehabilitation process is complete, or dependent upon circumstances, may remain in a forever foster home or the rescue center sanctuary until the end of their lives. We provide all the medical care, food, medicines and vaccinations while the forever foster parents provide a loving home.
